While apprenticing in studios and taking classes, Christian Luginger developed a deep interest and respect for European, Venetian, and Japanese historic vessels and art glass. This class is an introduction for flameworkers to the traditional techniques of fine goblet making. Students should have a solid grasp of basic and practical flameworking techniques, as well as a willingness to be challenged and to learn a new approach. Through demonstrations, exercises, and one-on-one instruction, the students not only learn about the fine points of goblet making, they develop a better overall understanding of working hot glass. They will engage the material at a detailed level and focus on different aspects of flameworking from pulling points to beautiful and technically made pieces.
