As the principal artist and education director at Wired Designs Studio, Gail Stouffer specializes in functional glassware and vessels for home décor, lighting and architectural installations. This session provides an in-depth focus on the diverse techniques used to create the woven form in glass. Students will explore a variety of techniques to construct glass textile forms using glass sheet, rod, and strand. After investigation of each technique, participants will manipulate their glass “fabrics” to create textural works of art, architectural sculptures, or components for inclusion in larger projects. This course focuses on creating various types of glass "threads," development and use of weaving molds, faux and true weaving, color reactions (the good, bad & ugly), surface treatments, shaping of the finished “cloth,” as well as strength and installation. Don’t miss this unusual workshop designed for the contemporary artist.
