Our 950 sq. ft. Warm Shop has flexible space to accommodate all types of activities. It includes:

Two 3’ x 4’ casting kilns
Two 4’ x 5’ fusing/casting combination kilns
Three separate rooms all with individual ventilation: classroom, kiln room, and moldmaking area for both wax and plaster
Swing arm ventilation in classroom space for painting, leading, or enameling

Warm Shop Rental:

Studio Rental $10/hour + materials
Kiln Rental Varies (contact PGC staff)
Large Wax Steamer $10/session (4 hours)

Studio Rental includes use of tools (mixing buckets, glass cutters, scales, light tables, wax melters, soldering irons, wax/clay tools, etc.) and space for working on projects. Materials (plaster, silica, glass, etc.) will be charged additionally. PGC has limited materials for sale and strongly recommends that renters use their own. Kiln Rental includes the use of one kiln and kiln accessories (shelves, fire bricks, sand, etc.) for a single firing. Rental Rates

All studios at PGC are available to rent. Time must be booked at least one day in advance and you must be a PGC member. Call 412.365.2145 ext. 204 for more information and to schedule time.

Open Studio

Pittsburgh Glass Center offers open studio time at a discounted rate for students currently enrolled in a class or anyone who has taken a class within the last year. The price varies from studio to studio and includes all tool rentals. In addition, a technician is on duty to answer questions.

Fridays from 10am — 2pm are generally the times set aside for open studio in the hot, flame and warm shops. The cold shop is available for open studio on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday from 10am to 2pm. Time must be scheduled in advance.
