Over 150 handmade glass works by local and internationally renowned glass artists will be included in the live and silent auctions.  \n					\n									bid now\n					\n															\n															\n																														 \nAbout our featured artist AMBER COWAN\nAmber Cowan’s sculptural glasswork is based around the use of recycled\, upcycled\, and second-life American pressed glass. She uses the process of flameworking\, hot-sculpting and glassblowing to create large-scale sculptures that overwhelm the viewer with ornate abstraction and viral accrual. With an instinctive nature towards horror vacui\, her pieces reference memory\, domesticity and the loss of an industry through the re-use of common items from the aesthetic dustbin of American design. The primary material used for her work is glass cullet sourced from scrap yards supplied by now defunct pressed glass factories as well as flea-markets\, antique-stores and donations of broken antiques from households across the country. \nHer recent diorama-style pieces tell stories of self-discovery\, escapism and the power of the feminine by utilizing figurines and animals found in collected antique glass pieces. These figurines become recurring symbols in the evolving narrative and simultaneously pay homage to the history of US glassmaking. \nCowan lives and works in Philadelphia where she received an MFA in Ceramics/Glass from Tyler School of Art and Architecture of Temple University. This program is offered free of charge for veterans as a way to honor their service and create space for connection\, creativity\, and shared experience. Veterans are encouraged to bring friends and family members to participate alongside them and enjoy the experience together. \nTo help support and sustain this programming\, accompanying guests are asked to contribute a minimum of $5. Additional contributions are welcome\, and all funds directly benefit future veteran-centered programs\, helping us continue to provide accessible creative opportunities and community events. Whether you come to create\, connect\, learn something new\, or simply spend meaningful time together\, this event is designed to foster community\, conversation\, and support in a welcoming environment for all. Learn more about our veteran’s scholarship program. \n \nFused Glass Suncatcher \nIn this fun kiln shop experience\, use colorful glass granules (frit) and thin glass rods (stringers) to design a vibrant glass suncatcher that captures the light. Once your design is complete\, we’ll fire it in the kiln so all the pieces become one. \nAges 5+. Adult supervision is required for any children under 14 years old.
