10-week After School Program for Young Artists
Have you ever wanted to make a glass chess piece, artichoke or cast of your own hand? Learn several casting techniques in this 10-week class. Form and shape your own sculpture in clay and wax, then learn to construct a mold around it. These molds will hold glass to create your own glass version of your shape! We will also explore the processes of fusing and slumping in this class. Learn how to cut pieces of flat glass and arrange patterns and forms to create your own sun catchers and platters! Students will also be introduced to the cold shop in order to finish their work. Grades 9 - 12.
All students participating in SiO2 after school classes will have the opportunity to showcase work made during class in an end of session exhibition, and have that work professionally photographed. These photos will be provided to the students to use in their portfolio at no additional cost.
