Instructor: Giles Bettison
Your instructor will explain the content and different source material he uses for his work. From that starting point he will discuss different approaches that he uses to generate patterns for the Murrini in his work. Learn different techniques Giles uses to dissect design ideas into simple elements that can be recombined to realize more complex patterns in individual Murrini and as an overall pattern or texture in the work. Using sheet glass to make Murrini Giles will demonstrate some of the techniques he uses to build complex patterns and ultimately vessels. The techniques involve drawing, measuring, sheet glass cutting, fusing, hot work and glassblowing. Discussions will include how he has been able to make all of his work without using a furnace.
