Instructor: Nathan Sandberg
Learn from the pioneer of the modern Vitrigraph methods in this intensive five-day class. Nine years ago, Nathan set out to see if he could “make some cane” using the Vitrigraph kiln as he had been accustomed to in the hot shop. Looking back, the results were discouraging compared to what is possible in this small kiln today. In this class, Nathan will cover it all. History, kiln operation, stringer, cane and murrine will all be explained, demonstrated and put to use over the course of five days. Aside from the basics Nathan will also present his updated complex murrine methods. You will leave the workshop with (at least) one finished project made of your own custom murrine as well as pulled cane/murrine you can use in future projects. This workshop is for students of all skill levels but those new to kiln-glass should be prepared to be challenged. Enrolled students must be able to confidently and efficiently cut sheet glass.
