Interiors with Impact

A Monmade Exhibition at Pittsburgh Glass Center

Opening Reception: Friday, December 8, 6-9pm

Pittsburgh supports a vibrant and growing ecosystem of craft businesses, maker enterprises, entrepreneurial artists, and design-build shops. Interiors with Impact showcases a wide variety of their products, ranging from lighting to furniture to home goods to wall coverings. The exhibition demonstrates that consumers can keep it local when solving their personal or professional design challenges.

“This exhibit highlights examples of local producers engaging in design thinking and craft manufacturing. Their creative output is beautiful, but also illustrates their potential to grow into business that impact the economy in meaningful ways,” said Director of the Craft Business Accelerator Adam Kenney.

Over 20 producers will be featured. They use traditional handwork techniques and advanced manufacturing processes to transform raw and/or reclaimed materials into inspired products with durability, utility, and good design.

The Partnership

Monmade is a network, platform, and program developed by the Craft Business Accelerator at Bridgeway Capital that aims to create a vibrant craft manufacturing ecosystem that revitalizes the Pittsburgh region’s disinvested areas and produces quality manufacturing jobs. Pittsburgh Glass Center is a Monmade partner, committed to growing a vibrant craft manufacturing sector in the Pittsburgh region.

“An important part of our mission is to cultivate, nurture and support diverse and passionate glass artists and expand opportunities for them to make and exhibit their work in Pittsburgh and beyond. Our partnership with Monmade has been invaluable. It is an important resource for our artists that provides them with business insight, advice and mentorship about managing their own enterprises from marketing to finances,” said PGC Executive Director Heather McElwee.

PGC began working with Monmade in 2016 to pave the way for individual glass artists in our community. Now over 10 glass artists along with many other makers in the community can be found at

This year Pittsburgh Glass Center launched Penn+Fairmount, its first line of glass tableware in partnership with Monmade. The collection designed and created by local artist Jason Forck includes pitchers, cups and vases in two silhouettes and six translucent colors. It can be purchased at PGC or online at
