Privately Scheduled Activity Options

Demonstration and Tour ($7-$15/person) (10 - 40 participants)
Schedule an exciting live narrated glassblowing and/or flameworking demonstration and watch expert artists create amazing glass art right in our state-of-the-art studios. Learn about Pittsburgh’s lesser-known but incredibly rich glassmaking history and take a tour of our contemporary glass art exhibition in the Hodge Gallery. This option does not include a hands-on experience, groups can expect for their demo and tour to take about one hour.

Private Make-it-Now ($40-$60/person)  (5 - 40 participants)
Make-It-Now workshops are quick experiences to try glassmaking with the assistance of a local artist. Groups will work with an instructor for 15-20 minutes to make an item of your choosing. Instructors assist participants in this option more than any other group option, allowing you to just get a taste of glass!

For an additional $5/person you can add on a demonstration and tour of PGC! Your group will have the chance to see artists work together to create a beautiful work of art before making your own item. Then, you'll take a tour of the facility to learn more about studio glass art and glass art in Pittsburgh.

Each person makes one item and the group can expect to be at PGC for one to two hours.

Private Workshop ($85-$120/person) (4 – 24 participants)
Schedule a private introductory workshop for your group! Besides, our Private Lesson option, this is the most hands-on experience we offer. Participants receive guided directions from a glass artist and make two items on their own under artist supervision. You get to do it all, except gathering glass from the furnace.

Each person will make two items and the group can expect to be at PGC for about two hours.

Private Lesson ($120-$200/person) (1– 2 participants)
With one to two people, you can schedule a private lesson with a local glass artist. Receive personalized instruction in any aspect of studio glass art from glassblowing to bead making, flameworking to fusing, mosaics to engraving, and more. You get focused attention from our experienced instructors at your own pace. Beginners benefit from learning the basics with one on one instruction and build a strong foundation of techniques. Experienced artists expand their skill set by focusing on a specific technique of their choosing. This option is the most hands-on! Each person typically makes a couple of items. Each lesson can be formatted to fit your skill level and personal glass-making goals.
