Madelanne was first introduced to glass in 2012 as a Governor’s School for the Arts student in Norfolk Virginia, at the Chrysler Museum of Art’s Glass Studio. From there, they went on to receive their Bachelor Fine Arts degree in Craft and Material Studies, from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2019. Shared human experiences are at the core of what Madelanne thinks about while making, and they’ve experienced lots of wonderful people working in places from Pilchuck Glass School in Seattle Washington, to Haystack Mountain School of Craft in Bangor, Maine. Madelanne’s now working at the Pittsburgh Glass Center as a Technical Apprentice. Here they will continue to encourage and inspire the community to consider the bodies and experiences of the people around them.
