We’re thrilled to announce that our Shattering Expectations capital campaign, chaired by Jim and Kathe Patrinos, has reached another milestone by raising over $14 million. Recent grants from the Richard King Mellon Foundation, Allegheny Regional Asset District, and the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh have brought us within a short grasp of our $15 million dollar goal.
These generous grants allow us to begin the renovation of a second 6,500-square-foot building known as the former Horoscope Lounge, at the corner of North Graham Street and Penn Avenue, two blocks away from our existing facility. In the early 2000s, the neighborhood banded together to shut down the lounge, which had grown to be a nuisance bar known for brawls in the street, and the first floor has remained vacant since 2006.

This building will be transformed into a flexible space for emerging artist exhibitions and community programming, as well as additional housing for technical apprentices and visiting artists. These renovations will strengthen the vibrancy of the Penn Avenue arts corridor and are anticipated to be complete before the end of the year.
