Originally from Takoma Park, Maryland, Sylvia first touched glass at ten years old and has been hooked ever since. After graduating from Cleveland Institute of Art with a BFA in glass, they worked as a demonstrating craftsman at Silver Dollar City sharpening their skills as a production glassblower and growing their love of sharing the craft with the public. Sylvia works to braid together the decorative and the functional, drawing considerably from mid-century design styles and the Bauhaus. They use glass to create work that explores how our homes can become art galleries by considering the objects we use daily.

Sylvia can usually be found wandering around with a pocket full of wrenches or in the hot shop making cups as fast as they possibly can. Track them down if you ever need help with a project or want to chat about the history of Modern and Postmodern architecture.
