Donate to the Art on Fire Auction
Pittsburgh Glass Center (PGC) has welcomed over 114 artists in residence in the last 5 years!
These artists and many more were given over 6,000 hours (that’s 250 full 24-hour days) of free time and assistance in PGC’s studios to experiment, hone their skills, create new work, or develop pieces for an exhibition at PGC or elsewhere. As artists, we know that residencies provide uninterrupted time and dedicated space to focus solely on your craft. Residencies give you a rare chance to immerse yourself fully in your work without the distractions of daily life. That is why it is so important that places like Pittsburgh Glass Center continue offering artist residencies.
Your auction donation directly supports PGC’s ability to offer residencies to artists at all levels.

Donate Art & Win Residency
Anyone who donates to the auction will receive an invitation to the Art on Fire Preview Party on September 4, as well as the opportunity to receive a 10-day residency at PGC in our new studios. Three residencies will be awarded in the following categories:
- Artwork valued at $1,000 and above—selected by a jury
- Artwork valued under $1,000—selected by a jury
- People’s Choice Award—selected by the public via Facebook
Second- and third-place awards will also be given in each category. Second place winners receive $700 in credit and the third place winners receive $400 in credit for classes or studio rental at Pittsburgh Glass Center. (To be eligible, you must have not won the residency in the last three years.)
All works of art that are at least 50% glass are invited. Jewelry, sculptures, functional vessels, and more are welcome. Twenty items will be selected for the live auction and the remainder will be featured in the silent auction. All auction donations are eligible to win a residency (except for residency winners from the previous 3 years). The deadline is July 31, 2025. Residency recipients will be notified in early September.
All auction items will be displayed in The Hodge Gallery and featured on the PGC website. Online bidding will open several weeks prior to the event.
