One of the current highlights in our shop is the first retail collaboration between Pittsburgh Glass Center’s Penn/Fairmount line and Pittsburgh custom bowtie and apparel brand Knotzland. Items from this collaboration include bow ties, lavallieres, brooches, and lapel pins with coordinating glassware, available for purchase in store now.
The collaboration focuses on sustainability and upcycled materials.
“The Knotzland x Penn/Fairmount Collection represents an innovative collaboration that repurposes glass pieces into stunning glassware, brooches, and lapel pins. This partnership not only celebrates the aesthetic appeal of repurposing materials but also underscores commitment to sustainability. By teaming up with Pittsburgh Glass Center, Knotzland is able to offer these unique pieces as individual purchases or as bespoke collections tailored for special occasions like weddings and events. This collaboration seamlessly merges creativity, sustainability, and artisanal craftsmanship, promising an extraordinary range of one-of-a-kind pieces of art.” —Nisha Blackwell, CEO of Knotzland
Nisha and Jason Forck began exploring a collaboration in spring 2021. She said it was an eye-opening experience to learn about the glass process. She felt that the program allowed her to step outside of her maker space and be more of a designer, bringing her artistic vision to a new medium.
