Visit, Take a Tour, Make Something
Pittsburgh Glass Center offers unforgettable educational experiences for everyone, regardless of age, background, or group size. One of the world’s foremost glass art facilities, PGC offers tours, field trips, and hands-on experiences in its state-of-the-art studios and contemporary glass gallery. It’s the perfect activity for school groups, milestone celebrations, team building activities, corporate events, senior clubs, and more. Because PGC is such a busy place, filled with resident artists and active students, tours and private glassmaking activities must be arranged in advance and are scheduled based on studio availability. We’re excited to share our passion for glass with you.
Requests for scheduling private activities must be made 60 days prior to the date of the activity. This gives us ample time to secure the space and the staff for the event. All details must be finalized 30 days prior to the date of the activity.
School + Youth Groups
Pittsburgh Glass Center supports glass art learning in and out of every type of classroom including public, private, and charter schools, homeschool organizations, daycare centers, camps, educational organizations, and libraries.
Guided Tour + Glassmaking Demonstration
Schedule an exciting live narrated glassblowing demonstration and watch expert artists create amazing glass art in our state-of-the-art studios. Learn about Pittsburgh’s lesser-known but incredibly rich glassmaking history and take a guided tour of our contemporary glass art exhibition in the Hodge Gallery. This option does not include a hands-on experience. Perfect for groups from six to 60 people.
Tour + Demonstration: 1 hour
Cost: $20/adult, $15 for student, $10/person if paired with a hands-on activity
Group Hands-On Activities
Try a glassmaking activity in the studio with plenty of assistance from a local glass artist. Everyone in the group has the opportunity to work closely with an instructor to make the glass item of their choosing (pre-determined when scheduling). Each participant will make at least one glass item and come away from this unique experience with a basic understanding of glassmaking and an appreciation of the process.
