Glass comes to life at Pittsburgh Glass Center on Friday, Feb. 7 at the opening of a new exhibition called Glass Lifeforms 2025.
Ninety-nine entries from 10 countries were submitted for this juried exhibition. Only 50 were selected to be on view in The Hodge Gallery. They include a variety of lifeforms from animals and insects to plants and microorganisms created using different techniques such as stained glass, fusing, kilncasting, pâte de verre, blown glass, flameworking, and more. See all exhibition submissions online.
Glass Lifeforms 2025 is inspired by Rudolf and Leopold Blaschka’s glass biological models made in the 19th and 20th centuries for Harvard University’s museums.
This is the third time that Lifeforms has been presented at PGC. Previous Lifeforms exhibitions were held in 2013 and 2016.
